On making the most out of 18 years

"Later, when you're grown up, you realize you never really get to hang out with your family. You pretty much have only eighteen years to spend with them full time, and that's it."

...and sometimes, that works out just right...

Hey Carmi!
Relating that to my childhood, it was too much time. Relating it to time with my own children, it went much to quickly. I hope you are having a great holiday season.

The thing about being part of a step-family is that the dynamic is constantly changing. You are both blessed and cursed to NOT have 18 years in any one configuration.

Of course, my immediate family is mostly four-footed, so 18 years isn't ever going to happen, but the eight or ten we get with each of those furry beings is precious.

P.S. Thanks for your note on MY blog this morning. It was nice to hear from you, and your words made me smile.
