Catching up - Ink Blog entries

Every two or three weeks, I publish a column in the daily paper here, The London Free Press. It appears on the op-ed page, and from Tuesday through Saturday I comment - in 170 words or so - on whatever newsy stuff I think matters to our readers.

Since one of the reasons I keep this blog is to archive and distribute the work that I publish, I try to post page scans and text versions of everything that gets into print. I don't always do this as quickly as I would like (life's busy these days.) So what I've done is back-post the entries for my most recent "on" week - October 18 through 22 - and have included the links here.

I hope you'll go back and read 'em. These short snappers are designed to elicit reader response, so I hope you'll also take the time to drop a comment and let me know what you think.

Tue Oct 18 – Flu shots, please

Wed Oct 19 – Yummy pesticides

Thu Oct 20 – Bad Customs attitude

Fri Oct 21 – Capital budget follies

Sat Oct 22 – Tobacco plant closure

I like the flu shot one, I SO agree. My hubby is highly susceptible and always gets his, but other people get colds and all kinds of junk and don't bother to consider that coming to our house or going in to where he works and touching all his stuff is really rude. I'm always trying to keep sick people away from him.

Carmi, this is just a quickie visit from Michele. I love your writing and will come by tomorrow and read the other 3. As far as your flu shot entry, I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm not afraid to get one, I'm just too young! They aren't giving out shots to anyone under 60!
Hope you are having a great weekend!

Great articles Carmi. I agree that people need to get a flu shot.

I am not the tree hugging type either but we do not use any pesticides.

Oh yeah here via Michele's today...:)

Great columns and thanks for sharing. Isn't customs just a trip and a half? I often wonder where they get those people. It seems like such a power trip for some of them.

Carni You are quite handsome!
Ok I've never had a flu shot before until last year. At work they did it for free. Lor and behold 10 days later I got the flu and it turns into pneumonia (SP?)
I endup spending 3 days in the hospital.
I do believe it was cuz of the flu shot I got sick so quickly and I've never had the flu for the past 17 years.
I know it's hard to believe, I'm one of those that eat lots of vitamins in veggies etc..
I luv u'r aticles btw

I enjoy reading your articles and posts. I have to check about the availability of flu shots around here, won't be eating "birds" for a while.

Where I live, the elderly are lucky to get a flu shot let alone the rest of us.

Btw, Michele sent me again!
